Aly Madsen and her sister spent a significant part of their childhood growing up in hospital rooms dealing with the painful symptoms of Cystic Fibrosis.
Their mother was a single parent that spread herself thin between working at a demanding factory job and visits to multiple medical facilities with her girls. She would have to depend on financial assistance from the CF foundation sometimes to help cover the high costs of life saving treatments.
While donating to a cure for CF is obviously something close to my heart, I wanted to dedicate my MRev money to a community that is fighting to raise awareness about the disease. My wife reads Ronnie Sharpe’s blog every day for hope and inspiration, which is especially important to our family since she is pregnant with twins. |

Fighting on Every Front to Improve Living with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
George Harris was the epitome of the next door neighbor you’re happy to have. A great neighbor, loving father, a supportive husband and a loyal friend. He tried valiantly to teach me that there’s more to life than work.
He would remind me of this every time he was walking through our yard to get to the lake to go fishing, often with his family in tow. George loved the outdoors almost as much as life itself, and George loved his family even more than that.
George never complained when he lost mobility in his fingers, could no longer walk by himself or do all the things he loved to do. He’d even make jokes when we would wrestle him back up from a fall to the floor.
George remained stronger than all of us to the end, yet it’s hard to imagine the inner struggle of maintaining your wits while you completely lose control of your body.
In the memory of George, and for the others currently suffering, I wanted to donate my MRev charity money in support of the fight for a cure. |

I’ve chosen the Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation of Georgia in honor of my friend Dante Jones and his son “Little Tay” whom suffers from Sickle Cell Anemia.
Sickle Cell Anemia is a painful, debilitating and heartbreaking disease. The Sickle Cell Foundation of Georgia’s mission is to provide education, screening and counseling to sickle cell patients. It also provides vital activities and services for school-age patients with sickle cell disease (such as their annual holiday party and summer camp).
On a personal note, I spend 200+ days per year working alongside Dante Jones – and I’ve never heard him complain. He works a full day at Top of Mind and then heads directly to his 2nd job at Fed Ex. During his free time, he’s a loving and caring father to his son. Dante doesn’t realize it, but he’s made me a better person over the past five years.
I’m proud that Mortgage Revolution is helping a cause close to Dante’s heart. Thanks to everyone for making this gift possible. |

Most attitudes toward people with intellectual and physical disabilities are framed by negative stereotypes and misconceptions. Yet when people see Special Olympics athletes in competition, they find their attitudes changing – not just about what those with disabilities can do, but also about what they themselves can do to help build a better world.
Part of the Special Olympics mission is educating people about the dignity and gifts of all people.
Mortgage Revolution shares a similar mission with the Special Olympics to influence a positive change in people’s attitudes, misconceptions and stereotypes.
Special Olympics empowers individuals, gives hope to their families, builds cohesive communities and galvanizes the support and action of legislators, government agencies, medical professionals and leaders from the public and private sectors – all in the name of bringing care, opportunity and acceptance to the millions of people with disabilities and in doing so, build a better world.
I am honored to be a part of Mortgage Revolution and share in giving back to make a positive change about misconceptions.
Every person, regardless of whatever different abilities they may have, can contribute, can be a source of joy, can beam with pride and love.

The contraction of the news reporting industry has been well documented, and leaves behind a nagging social question. Who is funding the stories that will illuminate the good causes going unnoticed, and the investigative reporting that uncovers the Watergates? Even more important, who is charged with this kind of reporting at the local level when salaried local journalists go by the wayside?
I’ve chosen to support a nonprofit organization developing the new journalistic models to present the stories that need to be heard and funded. Spot.Us “crowdsources” reporting from an engaged community of individuals and organizations who vote with micropayments.
The missions of Spot.Us and Mortgage Revolution are aligned. At the core, both organizations are about making sure the channels for information distribution remain intact, for mortgages and for journalistic reporting.
I’m proud of be associated with Mortgage Revolution and the contributions from all of you will help Spot.Us to develop a new model to engage our communities through other organizations just like Mortgage Revolution.
